Night Heijplaat
Last night, I spent a couple of hours exploring the Heijplaat streets with my camera in street light. The wind was cutting through the buildings at least close to 30+ kph making this even a little more challenging since it was also below 59 F.

Spido: harbor tour
From the inner harbor of Heijplaat, here are the strange elephant like shapes. The mystery of these are beautiful. I hope they never tear them down- leave them behind as symbols of another time, past. Just about 200 m from this place south, is this facade that blew me away as a structure. The old RDM shipyard, now converted into a campus.

West: South Rotterdam<->Rozenburg
Today, I rode my B.a.d bike from the studio to just about 1K from Rozenburg, approximately 21K from Rotterdam. It took me 3.5 hours 1 way. Mostly, because I was stopping ever few moments to take a picture or record the sounds. Possibly next weekend I will ride to the coast- this time I will pack a bit of food and more fluids. This is a strange landscape of hissing, pops, crashes and huge trucks moving merchandise around the various harbors. Despite the wind, I was able to record a few minutes of the sounds of some kind of crickets in a field between two factories. They were loud and invisible.

Mayflower passenger list
What a strange find- thanks to Mary Sue and Reni, two new friends through Nico. In a small pub resturant, called the Town Brewery De Pelgrim located in the historic Delfshaven was this list of Mayflower boat passenger list.

Mudderboot
Hookesiel, Germany. Near the coast of the North Sea.
An early 1925 the “mudderboot,” a device used to clear or dredge the canal of mud by using the force of water from behind the device to drive the vessel towards the mouth of the canal. This reminds me of one of Leonardo’s drawings made real. Smart way to use the the renewable and backed up water as an energy source- . An early photograph of the “mudderboot” with some of the operators connected to their historical society.

found color negatives: Zuidplein, Charolois
These negatives were found on a dark and cold rainy early evening, 16 January, 2008 on the edge of Zuidplein (commercial mall). This was my first stay with Foundation B.a.d to research Heijplaat Radio project that is now underway.
