More information about the Maasvlakte. The second image is looking out towards the North Sea, which is the location for the Maasvlakte II, a future recovery site that may or may not happen, depending on economics.  In the Maritime Musuem is a model of the city and seaport of Rotterdam that includes the projected project in relation to the rest of the harbor– it is an provocative plan.  The first image is water being pumped out onto the sea, the second one that is slightly darker is sand, a form of dredging.
